Intended use

A urethral catheter is a tubular device intended for introduction into the vesical cavity through the urethra in order to provide drainage and/or flushing of the bladder. Continuous use should be for no longer than 29 days; the cumulative use for each type of urethral catheter can exceed 30 days.

Device Description

Urethral catheter is made of silicone material and the structure as follows

Three-way: Consists of tip, drainage eyelet, balloon, shaft, drainage funnel, inflation funnel, valve etc.

Three-way w/ irrigation plug: Consists of tip, drainage eyelet, balloon, shaft, drainage funnel, inflation funnel, irrigation funnel, valve flushing plug etc.

Note: Balloon capacity and spec. are marked on shaft of urethral catheter.

Working principle

Urethral catheter is inserted into patient’s bladder via the urethra and fixed into the bladder by the inflation balloon to drain the urine by the intravesical pressure; three-way urethral catheter also can be used for bladder flushing.


Instruction For Use:

1)    Please read the instruction before using

2)    Before catheter insertion, the entrance to urethra and vulva of patient shall be cleaned and disinfected.

3)    Open the sterile pack of catheter, wear the sterile gloves, take the catheter and use the needleless syringe to verify whether the balloon can be inflated or deflated as intended.

4)    Coat the catheter with water-soluble lubricant such as glycerin, and then carefully insert the catheter into bladder via urethra.

5)    Insert the catheter into bladder about 3-4cm to place the balloon into bladder completely after urine drainages from catheter.

6)    Inflate the balloon with specified volume of sterile water or saline by the needleless syringe.

7)    Gently pull the catheter to check the balloon is hold by the bladder, then take off the syringe from inflation valve.

8)    Connect the catheter drainage funnel with drainage bag tightly

9)    Before pull catheter out, deflate the balloon by aspirating the water from balloon use needleless syringe or cut the shaft of catheter to facilitate a quick drainage of balloon, then pull out catheter carefully.

10)  Use the three way catheter with irrigation plug if bladder irrigation is required. Open the lid of irrigation plug which connected with the irrigation funnel, then inject with the irrigation fluid into bladder for bladder irrigation.
